Nashville Predators: NHL’s biggest tailgate
The Nashville Predators were named No. 1 in a recent survey of the Top 10 Food and Drink Teams in the NHL.
We believe this designation is spot on, possibly a result of the numerous, eclectic options surrounding the arena, from steak dinners at The Palm to the “Recession Special” at Robert’s Western World, which gets you a hot dog, chips and a PBR for $5. Or the parties thrown on the plaza before faceoff.
Food Republic, which picked the top ten, put Nashville at No. 1 – because the city has the “biggest” hockey fan tailgate.
Here’s what they have to say: “Dubbed by the Predators’ own staff as Nashville’s biggest tailgate, there’s barbecue and music for some pre-game fun, even if you don’t make it to the game. Team reps also recommend Jack’s Bar-B-Que, which is next to the arena, and the ribs at Rippy’s Bar and Grill. Looking to get rowdy? A variety of honky-tonks surround the stadium, including Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Robert’s Western World and The Stage Legend’s—but those stops are more for the booze then the food.”
But, according to a spokeswoman, the Predators staff was simply referring to more nontraditional tailgates, in the form of parties.
And, lest us not forget, the plethora of food and drink options within feet of the stadium or the live music that’s blasting or the thousands of fans that duck in and out of nearby bars.
For the record, the “Fan Zone” also gets get ticket-holders unlimited beer, wine, soda and a buffet.
But, according Food Republic, “it’s the tailgating that earns Nashville the No. 1 spot on this list.”
