Easy Tailgate Margs
Easy tailgate margs keep the cooler honest and the blender busy. Frozen limeade, tequila, light Mexican beer — slush for the crew, or pour it on the rocks when you skip the ice machine.
Yield: about 4 frozen drinks (one blender batch) — or build rocks pours one glass at a time.
Ingredients
Frozen batch
- 12 oz frozen limeade concentrate
- 12 oz tequila
- 1 bottle (12 oz) light Mexican beer (Corona or similar)
- 2 cups ice, plus more if you need it thicker
- Coarse salt for rimming (optional)
- Lime wedges for garnish
On the rocks (one glass)
- 1 can or bottle light Mexican beer
- 2 oz tequila (1 oz for a lighter pour)
- 2–3 oz thawed frozen limeade concentrate
- Ice
- Optional: salt rim, fresh lime, splash of sparkling water
Method
Frozen
- Rim glasses if you want salt — wipe the rim with lime, dip in coarse salt.
- In a blender, combine frozen limeade concentrate, tequila, beer, and ice. Blend until slushy. Add ice if it’s too thin.
- Pour into glasses. Lime wedge on the rim.
On the rocks
- Fill a glass with ice. Add tequila and thawed limeade.
- Slowly pour in the beer. Stir gently. Lime garnish.
- Want it lighter? Cut tequila to 1 oz or add a splash of sparkling water.
Lot notes
- Light Mexican beer only — strong craft pours fight the lime.
- Make-ahead frozen mix: blend limeade, tequila, and ice ahead and hold in the freezer; add the beer right before you serve so it keeps some fizz.
- Keep a drinks cooler separate from food. Label the blender pitcher if kids are around.
- Homegate: same blender batch for the Sunday slate; rocks pours for late arrivals.
Blend or pour, pass the glass, keep the lime honest.
