Kan Jam
Overview
Kan Jam is a disc game with a can target. Full distance wants open grass. Shorten it and keep the disc below head height, and it still belongs in a tight spot.
Why it’s a good choice
Partner teamwork (thrower + deflector) feels different from bags. Instant “Kan” moments keep the crowd watching. Scales: short for a stall game, long when you actually have lawn. Soft / beginner discs travel nicer near tents.
Where best to play
Full play: cans ~50 feet apart — lives closer to open-grass throw. Stall / kids: 25–35 feet, call “house distance.” Clear the air lane. Disc into a canopy or windshield ends the game for the day. If the next crew is inside your miss, shorten it or pack it.
Rules
- Partners stand at opposite cans.
- Thrower aims at the far can; partner may deflect the disc into the can (no catching and stuffing — agree house deflect rules once).
- 1 point — disc hits the can. 2 points — partner deflects it in. 3 / Instant 21 — thrower banks it clean through the slot unaided (say which rule you use).
- Play to 21. Bust / exact rules — agree before toss one.
Gear / setup notes
- 2 Kan Jam cans (or similar bucket targets with a slot)
- 1 flying disc (+ spare in the bag)
- Soft discs near parking. Never throw across a driving lane.
Shorten the air. Keep the disc under the tents.
