Lot Grill Weather Play
Weather is not a vibe. It is a constraint list.
Wind
- Orient the open face of a charcoal grill away from the prevailing blow; use a wind screen that does not trap CO.
- Propane: check connections before you light; windy days expose leaks you ignore in still air.
- Never leave a lit grill to “run to the gate.” Assign a grill minder like you assign ice.
Rain
- Canopy over people first, grill second — dripping fabric onto open flame is a bad story.
- Have a foil-and-cooler backup protein plan. Hospitality > hero sear.
- Electrical: GFCI if you insist on plugs; generators belong downwind and per lot rules.
Heat
- Hydration station next to the cooler, not after someone wobbles.
- Raw proteins out of the danger zone: cooler discipline beats Instagram timing.
Written vs enforced
Read the lot’s fire rules. Some venues ban open charcoal; some look the other way until someone is careless. Rookie Calm covers how to ask without awkward.
