Beer Darts
Overview
Beer darts is a two-side target game: cans or cups as targets, darts thrown from a safe distance. Soft-tip preferred. It’s louder and sharper than pong — the fun is the aim, not the volume of the pour. Only play where age laws and the lot guide allow drinking games.
Why it’s a good choice
Works 1v1 or small teams. Higher skill ceiling than flip cup; shorter rounds than a full pong slate. Good when you want competition without needing a regulation-length table. Not the pick if kids are wandering the throw lane — soft-tip still isn’t a toy.
Where best to play
Needs a clear throw lane and a backstop (cardboard, a mat against a cooler wall) before the first dart flies. Targets sit at a fixed distance you call once — often 10–15 feet. Keep the lane away from walkways, windshields, and the grill blast. Misses that hit chrome end the game for the day. Eye protection if the crew is serious.
Rules
- Each side sets a can or cup target. Agree distance and soft-tip only.
- Players alternate throws. Hitting the opponent’s target scores (house: drink, point, or both — say it once).
- Nobody aims at people. Ever. A dart toward a person ends participation.
- First to an agreed hit count wins — or timed rounds before kickoff.
- Retrieve darts only when both sides have thrown and called “clear.”
Responsible drinking: water between rounds, food in the stomach, hard stop before walk-in, rides planned. See Drinking games.
