Beer Pong
Overview
Beer pong is the lot’s default cup game: two teams, ten cups each end in a triangle, one ping-pong ball. Bounce or toss into a cup — that cup comes off. Clear their side first. It needs a fold-out table that can take spills and a crew that already checked the lot guide — plenty of schools ban drinking games outright.
Why it’s a good choice
Crew of four (2v2) is the classic; six can rotate. Skill ceiling is real without being exclusive — rookies land cups, veterans argue re-racks. Vibe is social and loud. Cap the slate so it doesn’t eat the whole afternoon before kickoff. NA beer or water in the cups keeps non-drinkers in the game when you want the competition without the pour.
Where best to play
Needs a stable rectangular table — see tables — and room for two teams to stand without blocking the walk lane. Shorten the table length if the stall is tight. Not a grass-lane game; not a “across the aisle” game. Spill zone stays on your mat or under your canopy. Keep cups out of any driving lane.
Rules
- Ten cups each end in a triangle. Fill with water or beer per house rules (water + drink from a separate cup is cleaner on a hot lot).
- Teams alternate throws (or one throw each, then switch — say it once). Bounce shots often remove two cups if you allow them — call bounce rules before toss one.
- Cup hit → remove it. Re-racks on agreed counts (commonly 6 and 3 remaining).
- Clear their cups first to win. Overtime: 3 cups if you want a short slate.
- Elbows / leaning: agree the foul line (table edge) once. No arguing mid-game.
Responsible drinking: max drinks per round, water between rounds, eat before you play, nobody drives impaired. Full crew standard lives on the Drinking games hub.
Gear / setup notes
Ping-pong balls (carry spares — they vanish). Towel + trash bag before the first pour. Cups that won’t tip in a breeze. NA option on the table. Back to the hub: Drinking games.
