Lot S’mores
Dessert on the lot should not need an oven or a speech. S’mores are cargo: crackers, chocolate, marshmallows, heat, and a minder who watches the fire.
Yield: plan about 2 per person if the sweet tooth shows up.
Ingredients
- Graham crackers, broken into squares
- Plain milk chocolate bars, broken to fit the cracker
- Large marshmallows
- Heavy-duty foil
- Long forks or skewers if you are toasting over coals
Optional: a few strips of cooked, drained bacon for a salty-sweet tray.
Method
Foil packs (shared gas or charcoal grill)
- Build each sandwich: graham · chocolate · marshmallow · graham. Bacon under the chocolate if that tray is running.
- Wrap each one in foil so the seal faces up.
- Medium grill, lid down, about 3–4 minutes total — flip once. Pull when the pack feels soft, not incinerated.
- Open away from faces (steam). Wait ten seconds so it holds together, then pass.
Coal toast (where lot rules allow)
- Low coals, not a flare-up.
- Toast marshmallows to browned outside / soft inside.
- Park hot marshmallow on chocolate-topped graham, cap, press, eat.
Lot notes
- Dessert minder — same seriousness as ice duty. Foil packs and open flame do not supervise themselves.
- Check charcoal / open-flame rules before you look clever. Lot Grill Weather Play when wind makes foil packs into rockets.
- Keep a labeled allergen-aware box if kids or guests need it (wheat / milk are common here).
- Homegate: foil packs on a gas grill or a watchful minute under a broiler.
Melt, pass, build the next one.
