What to Bring
You were invited. Show up useful. You do not need a second grill — you need something that extends the table and a plan to leave the asphalt kinder than the stereotype.
Manners, ETA, and cleanup energy live in Guest Glory. This page is the bring-list.
Default useful brings
Pick one primary unless the host asked for more.
| Bring | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Drinks (pre-chilled) | High burn rate; ask beer / zero-proof / mix before you duplicate |
| Ice (1–2 bags) or cash for an ice run | Cheaper than apologizing — see Ice Math for Twenty |
| Chairs | Captains always under-count butts |
| Dessert or a cold side | Extends the table; name it in the chat so it isn’t three brownies |
| Trash bags + a roll of paper towels | Quiet hero move |
| Games (if asked) | One complete set beats a lonely board |
Add what your crew actually uses (sunscreen, cable ties, a wagon). Skip what the host already owns.
Ask first
Text before you commit to:
- A competing entrée or second main
- A full bar setup or specialty cocktail kit
- Anything that needs fridge space, a generator, or grill real estate
- Peanut-heavy or surprise-allergen foods without a label
If the host already assigned lanes in chat, follow Who Brings What — don’t freestyle a fourth bag of chips.
What not to bring unsolicited
- Glass bottles you will not babysit on asphalt
- Warm cooler cargo that arrives already in the danger zone
- A surprise “I smoked a whole brisket” unless they asked
- Bad attitudes about parking, trash, or someone else’s playlist
Empty-handed is worse than a six-pack. A chaotic surprise main is worse than empty-handed.
Lot notes
- Say your ETA and any dietary needs in the same text as your bring.
- Arrive ready to help set or tear down for five minutes — Glory covers the manners; the list just gets you in the door useful.
- Homegate: same rules for a living-room kickoff — useful beats flashy.
Show up useful. Leave it kinder.
I Love To Tailgate — feed the crew like you mean it.
