Saturday in Iowa City comes up Melrose Avenue, through Krause Plaza and the Hawk Walk, and into Kinnick Stadium. Know whether you’re in a surface lot or a parking ramp before you light anything.

Around campus

• The walk up Melrose Avenue is the food and gear corridor into Kinnick, campus energy rather than a far satellite lot.
• Krause Family Plaza and the Tigerhawk Beer Garden, on the south side, open about 3 to 4 hours before kick. They clear after the Hawk Walk for the ticketed extension. The Hawkeye Wave in the second quarter is inside the stadium, a first-timer note, not a lot rule.

Before the game

• The Hawk Walk brings the team in about 2 hours before kick, through Krause Family Plaza, the Nile Kinnick statue, and Gate A. Plant early if you want the barricade.
• Free CAMBUS park-and-ride shuttles run from Hancher, the Hawkeye Commuter lot, and downtown Schaeffer Hall, with pregame service from about 2 hours before kick on the university transportation page. Finkbine and the softball lots are paid and can tailgate. The free remote lots are the other trade.

On the lot

• Surface lots allow propane and charcoal. No wood fires, and nothing in the travel lanes. Ramps are tighter, so read the tailgating policies before you unpack.
• The parking map on the football parking page is interactive. Alcohol, grills, and hours are in the overview.

• Lots open no earlier than 6 hours before kick, and not before 6:00 a.m.
• Beer and wine only, per the athletics tailgating policies.
• Propane and charcoal are ok on surface lots.
• Wood fires are not allowed.
• Keep setups out of travel lanes and off the ramps as posted.
• Free shuttles cover Hancher, the Hawkeye Commuter lot, and the CAMBUS runs.
