Dice

Dice on the lot

Overview

Table dice take almost no room. A cup or box lid keeps them off the asphalt. Same wind problem as cards — block it or chase pips forever.

Why it’s a good choice

Faster rounds than Spades when the grill just beeped. Farkle and Yacht scratch the same itch as yard dice without the foam tarp. Pocket haul. Drinking-game stakes only where the lot guide allows — see drinking games.

Where best to play

On a tray, on the table, under the canopy. Keep rolls on the tray — asphalt eats dice. Table & hands footprint. Want a bigger roll? Giant yard dice.

Rules — quick table games

Yacht / Yahtzee-lite

Five dice, up to three rolls, fill a simple score sheet.

Ship, Captain, Crew

Need 6 then 5 then 4; leftover dice are cargo. Fast rounds.

Left-Center-Right (LCR)

Three L/C/R dice (or mark a set). Chips pass left, center pot, or right. Last chips standing wins.

Farkle

Six dice. Roll, set aside at least one scoring die, bank or push luck. Score nothing? Bust. Hot dice (all six scored) → roll again.

Common scores: single 1 = 100 · single 5 = 50 · three of a kind = face × 100 (three 1s = 1,000). First to 10,000 (or short 5,000). Same game on foam: Giant Yard Dice.
