Alabama football tailgate at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny · Tuscaloosa, AL

Saturday in Tuscaloosa starts on the Quad, moves through the Walk of Champions and the Elephant Stomp, and ends up at Bryant-Denny. Know which part of the west lawn you’re actually in before you set a chair down.

Must see / do

Around campus

  • The west Quad is the free lawn across University Boulevard from Bryant-Denny. First come under the oaks, not a distant lot. Denny Chimes is the photo stop on that same corridor.
  • Champions Lane and the Tuska lawn, northwest of the stadium, are free fan-fest energy near the elephant statue. Show up hours early. It isn’t a DIY grill grid. The Walk of Champions is the north-plaza brick path and the championship-coach statues, where fans line up for the team buses. Weekly guides often put it about 2 to 2.5 hours before kick. Check that week’s Tide Tips. There isn’t a locked minute.
  • Elephant Stomp hits the Gorgas Library steps with Big Al, the Million Dollar Band, and cheer. Then the band marches Colonial toward the stadium. Local guides put it shortly before kick. Verify it weekly.

Before the game

  • The downtown shuttle runs from the Intermodal to the Calvary Baptist area, from 3 hours before kick through about an hour after. Tide Tips lists it at $1 adult cash, one way. The day is campus and the Quad first, not a bar-street hinge.
  • Crimson Ride and the public-lot shuttles feed the Quad. Lots often open at 7:00 a.m., and the shuttle is free with a public pass. Roadblock clocks depend on kickoff. Read that week’s tips.
  • Gate times live on Tide Tips for each game. Don’t guess a universal Bryant-Denny gate clock.

On the lot

  • The west Quad is free and first come. Colonial Drive has timed drop-off windows Friday evening and Saturday. Woods Quad public setups are out.
  • Charcoal only, and generators stay off the Quad. The clocks and the rest of the bans are in the overview. Don’t guess them.

Overview

  • Free public tailgating on the west Quad, first come. Woods Quad public setups are out.
  • On-campus setup may start at 8:00 a.m. Friday. Everything off campus by 10:00 a.m. Sunday or it can get tossed.
  • Colonial Drive drop-off is Friday evening and Saturday by kickoff. 15-minute unload. Check UA Gameday that week.
  • Charcoal only. No fire pits or open flames. Keep grills 50 feet from buildings and tents. Dump coals in the red stations. Keep a 2.5 lb extinguisher within 15 feet.
  • Portable generators are prohibited on the Quad. Campus power poles exist, with strict outlet rules. Power goes off 1.5 hours after the game.
  • No vehicles or trailers on Quad grass. No hay or straw. Smoke-free campus. Drones are out on football gamedays.
  • Gameday Done Right handles reserved setups. Commercial solicitation is banned in Quad areas.

The written rules and what an officer calls that Saturday aren’t always the same. Confirm yours the week of the game.
